Stefanos Tsitsipas won the biggest title of his career on Sunday, making the successful transition from champion of the 2018 Next Gen ATP Finals to the Nitto ATP Finals 12 months later.
The world No 6 dominated Dominic Thiem with 6-7 (6), 6-2, 7-6 (4) in two hours and 35 minutes in the big final at London’s O2 Arena. At just 21 years old and 3 months old, Tsitsipas is the youngest ATP Finals champion since Lleyton Hewitt (20 years old) in 2001 in Sydney.
“[The crowd support] is just phenomenal, having such a crowd behind me while I’m on the field. They give me so much energy. They give me the confidence that I can achieve the things I want to achieve on the pitch. They motivate me. They give me so much energy in general and I love it. I would like to thank all the fans who came here to support me today with the Greek flags. They made me feel like home.”
