The final for Tata Open Maharashtra was held in the Mhalunge Balewadi stadium in Pune, India, a few hours ago.
The winner was last year’s finalist Kevin Anderson, who prevailed in a fascinating final with 7-6(4), 6(2)-7, 7-6(5) on Ivo Karlović in a match that lasted nearly three hours.
The two of the tallest tennis players (Anderson 2.03m – Karlović 2.11m) broke the record for the tallest final after 1968. In the previous tallest final, Anderson was again present against John Isner (2.08m).
That was the 6th ATP title in the South African’s career who said after the game “It was a very close game today. Really tough game! Thank you for coming to all the fans. The atmosphere here tonight I will remember it for the rest of my life!”
