After a thrilling quarterfinal, Spain dominated Belgium and took the ticket to tomorrow’s semifinal where it will face host Australia.
The Spaniards started out very strong with Bautista Agut beating Coppejans 6-1, 6-4 very easily. In the next game, however, Goffin made a surprise appearance against world No. 1, Nadal, with a 6-4, 7-6 (3) for Belgium.
In doubles the Belgians with Gille and Vliegen entered decisively and took the lead over the Nadal / Carreno Busta duo. However, the Spaniards were clearly superior, leveling and eventually winning the game and the match in the tie break.
In the first quarter of the day, Serbs ahead of Djokovic had an easy task against the youthful Canadian team. Serbia will face Russia in tomorrow’s first semifinal, which has not lost a set so far.
