Brisbane International’s penultimate day ended with the semi-final gamees for both men and women.
In men, Kei Nishikori won Jeremy Chardy with 6-2, 6-2 and took the first ticket for tomorrow’s final where he will claim his first title for almost three years.
The Japanese tennis player has lost the last nine finals to which he has been found since February 2016 and the title he won at Memphis. He shows in an excellent condition and he definitely wants to break this drought in tomorrow’s final where he will face Daniil Medvedev.
Russian tennis player prevailed on Jo-Wilfried Tsonga with 7-6 (6) 6-2 in the semi-final that followed and will be in the final of Brisbane International for the first time.
In women, Lesia Tsurenko, coming from the qualifying round, made the big surprise by defeating No 2 of the draw, Naomi Osaka with 6-2, 6-4 in her biggest career victory.
In the second semifinal, the favorite Karolina Pliskova prevailed on Donna Vekic with 6-3, 6-4 and will try to regain the title as he did in 2017.
