Davis Cup Finals – Day 3

Team Canada became the first team to secure a place in the Davis Cup quarter-finals, as it got its second win in a row, this time against the Team USA, 2-1 last night.

In the most important match of the day yesterday the Spaniards started with a tough victory against the Russians with 2-1. Rublev took the first game against Roberto Bautista Agut 3-6 6-3 7-6(0) but Rafael Nadal equalized the tie as he won Karen Khachanov 6-3 7-6(7). In the final and decisive game, the Spanish duo, Marcel Granollers and Feliciano Lopez had more energy and won Khachanov-Rublev with 6-4 7-6 (5).

So, if the Spaniards beat Croatia this afternoon for the last match of the 2nd group, they will surely be in the quarter-finals and Russia will hope to qualify as runners-up.

In today’s schedule, we will look at the last 3 teams that have not yet played. In particular, Serbia faces Japan for the 1st group, Germany competes with Argentina for the 3rd group, and finally Great Britain plays against the Netherlands for the 5th group.
