Yesterday’s games saw six teams move to the quarter-finals and one to the Davis Cup 2019 semifinals.
Canada, which had secured its place among the “8” of Davis Cup since Wednesday 20/11, faced Australia in a 72-minute match. Canadians Asek Pospisil and Denis Shapovalov emerged as big winners in the double, against the Australians Jordan Thompson and John Peers prevailing with 6-4, 6-4 games and tie Shapovalov’s defeat earlier in the singles to qualify in the semifinals of the tournament.
In the battle to claim a place in the quarter-finals, France lost to Serbia, which eventually qualified with 2-1 wins. Filip Krajinovic’s big win over Jo-Wilfried Tsonga with 7-5, 7-6 (5), and Novak Djokovic’s win over Frenchman Benoit Paire with 6-3, 6-3 in just 70 minutes, sealed Serbia’s place among the “8” of Davis Cup.
Yesterday Great Britain prevailed over Kazakhstan with 6-1, 6-4 games. At the same time, Germany qualified for the quarter-finals after its defeat against Chile. Today Germany will face Great Britain for a place in the semifinals.
Finally, the third match between Russia and Serbia has already started for the Davis Cup 2019. Since the score until now is 1-1 from the previous matches, this match will show who, the Serbs Novak Djokovic and Viktor Troicki .or the Russians Karen Khachanov and Andrey Rublev will win a spot in th semifinals.
