The quarter-finals for the Men’s Singles just finished with Novak Djokovic taking the last semifinals’ ticket after Kei Nishikori left the game awhile the score was 6-1, 4-1 in favor of Serbian.
The Japanese were clearly unprepared from the start of the game, and could not react at any point, winning only one game in the first set.
The situation did not change in second set, and it was obvious that Nishikori suffered and could hardly complete the game. Eventually, he did not stand and while the score was 4-1 in favor of Djokovic chose to retire.
Djokovic returns to the Australian Open semifinals after 2016 and is aiming for his 7th title in the tournament. The omen are on his side, as the previous 6 times he was in the semifinals, he got the qualification in the final and won the title!!!
In the semifinals, he will face the great surprise Loucas Pouille, who is making a dreaming tournament. In the quarter-final, the 24-year-old Frenchman played great for another game, dominating Milos Raonic with 7-6 (4), 6-3, 6 (2) -7, 6-4 and qualifying for the semifinal of a Grand Slam for the first time in his career.
