Novak Djokovic defeated David Goffin (2017 Tokyo Champion) 6-3, 6-4 in a race of 1 hour and 29 minutes, thus making it to the final of the ATP500 Tokyo Tournament. The Serbian top tennis player is racing for the first time in the Japanese capital.
He said of his struggles so far:
“I’m very satisfied with the way I’ve been playing the whole week,” Djokovic said. “It’s been a very positive week on the court, off the week as well. Hopefully I’ll be able to crown it tomorrow with a trophy.”
Djokovic’s first set with Goffin lasted 46 minutes, four minutes less than Djokovic’s quarter-final match against Louis Pouille.
Djokovic said this:
“I expected it [to be tough]. Obviously he was in good form and played really well against Chung yesterday in the quarters. The conditions are playing quick here. The surface doesn’t bounce that much, so you’ve got to be very low and quick on return as well. It definitely was not easy when both of us were serving well.”
Next up for Novak is Australia’s Jonh Millman, whom he has met before in the US Open quarterfinals.
