Petra Kvitová and Danielle Collins will be the first pair of the semi-finals at the Women’s Singles at the Australian Open.
Kvitová, No. 8 in the world rankings, had an easy task against Ashleigh Barty, winning with 6-1, 6-4 in just 1 hour and 8 minutes of play, and returns to the Australian Open semifinal after 2012. The 28-year-old Czech Republic had been excellent from the beggining of the game, and especially in the first set, left no room for Barty to react.
In the second set, Barty tried more, but in the critical points he did not react properly, and he fatally met the defeat.
In the quarter-final that preceded the American, Collins continued her dreamful presence on the Melbourne courts as she won the Russian Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova with 2-6, 7-5, 6-1 and qualified for the semi-finals of a Grand Slam for the first time in her career.
