Our representatives continue to the Australian Open with no losses as they both managed to qualify for the next round.
Certainly Stefanos Tsitsipas had the easiest job, who didn’t even have to play after his opponent Philipp Kohlschreiber withdrew due to a fracture. In the next round, the Greek champion will face Milos Raonic, who took a comfortable win over Cristian Garín with 6-3, 6-4, 6-2.
The Canadian showed in very good condition and will be Tsitsipas’ first hard obstacle en route to the final. It is worth noting that the two tennis players have never met before, so the difficulty of the match is even greater.
Maria Shakari, on the other hand, continued her impressive performances with 7-6 (4), 6-4 win over Japanese Nao Hibino, and secured her presence in the best 32 of the tournament for the third time in her career. A big goal for the Greek tennis player is to go the extra mile and get to the best 16. To do that, she will have to overcome Madison Keys hurdle that ranks No. 11 in the world rankings.
The precondition for the above is, of course, that the American will beat Arantxa Rus from Netherlands in their upcoming game.
