Roger Federer and Albert Ramos-Vinolas have met again four years ago at the Rolex Shanghai Masters, where the Spaniard had managed to beat Federer in the second round of the 2015 tournament. Today they will face Sanghai again on Tuesday.
“The draw is tough here… It’s not just every match on my racquet. But I feel like I have good energy left in the tank to go out and finish [the season] strong.’
Ramos faced Marin Cilic in his first fight, which he won and declared for his next fight with Federer:
“I’ve got nothing to lose, I’m aware my win over Roger in 2015 won’t be a factor when we play. It was simply a win over a great player, one of the best in the sport’s history. All I can do is go out there and perform my best.”
Shanghai is one of two 1000 ATP Masters tournaments in which Ramos-Vinolas has reached the quarter-finals. The other tournament is the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters where, in 2017, they defeated well-known rival Cilic in the quarter-finals before losing to Spain’s Rafael Nadal in the final.
We expect to see the results of who will be the winner in the meantime in the race.
