“I was ready from the first point on, as I have had a lot of trouble from him in the past,I tried to avoid that today, I felt great from the first practice and it’s great to get my first win in Beijing. It’s one of the strongest tournaments, you can lose every match, but I was very good today.”
The next Thiem will face is Chinese Zhizhen Zhang.
So far this season, the 26-year-old Thiem has won 2nd place at the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells (opposite Federer), Barcelona Open Open Bank Sabadel (against Medvedev) and Generali Open in Kitzbuhel (opposite Ramos- Vinolas).
