Tsitsipas’ debut in Marseilles

Stefanos Tsitsipas will play his opening game for the Open 13 this afternoon. The Greek champion, who is the No. 1 of the board in the tournament, will be called upon to face the Polish Hubert Hurkacz for the round of 16. The game is due to start at around 20:00 Greek time.

The two of them met once again at last year’s Next Gen ATP Finals, with Tsitsipas winning Hurkacz relatively easily in the group stage.

Earlier, at 16:30 Greek time, the first match for the round of 16 is set to start between Denis Shapovalov and Mikhail Kukushkin. Today’s program will close with the match between Gilles Simon and Peter Gojowczyk.

So far, there have been several surprises in the tournament, with the most significant being the exclusion of two French Jérémy Chardy and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga from Matteo Berrettini and Andrey Rublev respectively.
