Stefanos Tsitsipas defeated Lithuanian Ricardas Berankis on Thursday, October 24th, to conquer a place in the Swiss Indoors Basel “8”.
The Greek tennis player, despite he lost the first set on the Tay Brake, resulting in a 7-6 (7-4), managed to stay calm and “play his game” as he said. Both his temper and the risks he took during the two-hour showdown with Berankis gave him the victory as he prevailed 6-2 and 6-4 in the second and third sets. This is going to be the 13th quarter-final for Tsitsispas, where he will face the Serbian Filip Krajinovic tonight at 9.
Tsitsipas appears to be in a great shape; after participating in the China Open final and Rolex Shanghai Masters semi-final, he has the confidence to surpass the Krajinovic “obstacle” and find himself in the Basel semi-finals against Federer or Wawrinka.
