After a thrilling first week in the tennis calendar of the year, we are entering the second week, with the Sydney International tournament, both in the men’s category and in the women’s category, standing out.
Of course, the eyes of the Greek public will turn to the Greek champions Stephanos Tsitsipas and Maria Sakkari who are both in excellent form as they showed in the recent Hopman Cup, facing the legends, Roger Federer and Serena Williams.
Tsitsipas starts from the No. 1 of the board in the Sydney tournament, and in his first game he will face one of Ebden or Jarry. The 20-year-old tennis player is considered by many to be the big favorite to win the title, while direct contenders will be Schwartzman and de Minaur.
There is also enormous interest in the women’s tournament as the world’s two top runners Simona Halep and Angelique Kerber are participating in it, and everyone hopes for a great final between them.
Sakkari on her part chose to compete in Hobart International, starting from No. 4 on the board and facing Linette from Malta tomorrow, in her opening game.
Finally, in Auckland of New Zealand, the ATP250 ASB Classic tournament begun today, where the names of John Isner, Fabio Fognini, Marco Cecchinato and Pablo Carreno Busta stand out.
